WOMEN OF THE BEAUMONT SOCIETY (WOBS)
Who Are We?
WOBS are women who:
- Operate a Helpline from their personal experiences and knowledge of being in a relationship with a gender dysphoric person and can therefore empathise with their callers, anyone else should contact the Beaumont Trust or the Beaumont Society
Gender Dysphoric is a state of having gender 'dysphoria' (from the Greek word for dissatisfaction) referring to a profound sense of unease, or discomfort about one's gender, which is in opposition to one's physical sex characteristics.
What Are Our Aims?
WOBS are committed to:
- Supporting and understanding the needs of all women in an intimate, familial or social relationship with a gender dysphoric person;
- Educating and informing all persons who are interested in learning about them.
WOBS can be contacted by email at WOBSMatters@aol.com for support and advice, though primarily a telephone helpline. The number is:
In addition, we have the following Yahoo Groups discussion groups
Please contact email@example.com
Support group for Non-transgendered 'Significant Others' of Transgendered people, including partners, spouses, family and close friends of Transvestites, Transsexuals and other Transgendered people.
WOBSmatters welcomes all SOFFA's (Significant Others, Friends and Family) of transgendered people regardless of gender or sexual orientation, but do ask that transgendered people respect this "safe space" for their loved-ones and do not attempt to join.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
This is a sub-group to the main WobsMatters group for heterosexual female members married or partnered to transvestites.
The group is a closed group, open only to select members of WobsMatters who have been approved. Like main list, WobsMattersStraightTalk is open to non-transgendered Significant Others. The same list rules apply (no transphobic, no homophobia, no racism, no sexism).
The intention is to provide a safe space for straight women who see themselves as living in a traditional family structure, but who are struggling to cope with a husband or male partner who occasionally crossdresses.
Please contact email@example.com
Couples wishing to join will be asked to tell us a little bit about themselves so that we can be sure that the group is not abused. Couples are defined by their own identity and no combination is discriminated against. The forum is designed for couples to share their experiences and to ask advice from members in a confidential environment.
The group will be moderated by WOBS. It is not a forum for contact/dating.
